The world design feels weak compared to Portal 2, but for me I feel like a lab rat with no idea what is going on behind the scenes and that is just enough for me. Despite the games shortcomings the game is still one of my favourite games ever made. The very last puzzle before the final part of the game is all in one fairly small room which is pretty disappointing. Obviously coming for the 4th time I got through the game fairly quickly because Portal's main glaring issue is that puzzles, once you get the idea, are very short. All the ideas introduced in Portal feel like they have a place and everything is introduced properly that you don't feel lost in the mechanics. I love messing around in the engine and there was one point where I fell behind a wall and just got to mess around with portals and god it was fun just breaking the game. Initially, I looked at this as a flaw of the first game but upon revisiting Portal 2 it reminded me just how much better this game is. It's short and straight to the point of what it wants to do. Portal is a magical experience each time because the game is just straight puzzles. This is an experience I'd like to have more often.įor the 4th year in the row I played through both Portal games again. Mutations always get me, but it is early access.Ġ8 - Carrion - 8/10 - Short but sweet reverse horror pathfinder (I'll never use Metroidvania) game. Hopefully gets a big budget sequel from Microsoft.Ġ7 - Beacon - 7/10 - Rogue-like twin stick shooter where you mutate after death to get stronger. I'm a sucker for Spider-Man games, and this is the most polished one ever.Ġ6 - The Outer Worlds - 7/10 - Fun take on the Sci-Fi space colony RPG. I don't know how you'd make a sequel at this point.Ġ5 - Marvel's Spider-Man - 8/10 - Take out the Miles and Mary Jane sections, and I probably give it a 9/10. Interesting to play in the time of Coronavirus.Ġ4 - Prototype 2 - 7/10 - More refined game and varied powers, but I didn't like the direction they took the story. Forgot how much I liked the story and the Web of Intrigue. Story was more intriguing as well.Ġ3 - Prototype - 7/10 - Still fun in 2020, and the final boss still sucks.

2 - 8/10 - A much meatier game with some good updates to the formula. 7/10 - Another fun short FP puzzler (this is becoming my preferred genre).Ġ2 - Q.U.B.E. I only got through 17 games last year.Ġ1 - Q.U.B.E. If they can do that I believe Crystal Dynamics has the foundation of a great game to come back to over the course of the next couple of years. Enemies, missions, heroes, quests, everything just needs more and more varied as well. The problems are two fold but boil down to the same thing, not enough variety. With the promise of an ongoing story it make that all better. You play a superhero going out and doing superhero things. I might be of the minority opinion but I truly believe that The Avengers and comics in general make a great choice for this type of game. The live service part however, needs some work. The story is great, Kamala Khan is a fantastic character and used in the best way to explore The Avengers and all their drama. Having finished the story and played a bit of the post game I'm of two minds.
